Underground Shift Supervisor

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Underground Mining Shift Supervisor who knows their way around underground and can lead a crew. You’ll be responsible for running a safe, organized shift, holding your crew accountable and making sure development targets are met.

Key Responsibilities

· Ensure all BCL employees and underground personnel have a safe working environment.

· Ensure all BCL safe work practices and procedures are followed.

· Ensure workforce complies with applicable legislation and site-specific requirements.

· Ensure that personnel are trained and ticketed, for their designated tasks.

· Actively encourage and participate in a positive attitude towards safety.

· Ensure that facilities, plant and equipment are being used safely and for the appropriate work method.

· Conduct inspections in accordance with the relevant legislation.

· Ensure that all incidents and hazards are reported and investigated.

· Maximise achievement of targets with respects to safety and monthly production.

· Ensure and maintain compliance to mine planning, design and profile standards.

· Liaise with management in career development of shift personnel.

Duties Include

· Ensure that housekeeping and travel ways are up to BCL standards

· Check operator mark-ups for development and ensure that all production charging plans are followed

· Ensure checks and WPI’s are completed to a high standard and that all safety hazards raised are addressed

· Organise equipment and personnel to achieve production and development targets.

· Ensure that weekly schedules are followed as far as practicable

· Participate in incident investigations

· Assist in inspections

· Work with maintenance in organising plant services

· Ensure all plods and shift record sheets are filled out correctly and have all necessary information

· Liaise with Superintendent and client for planning

· Be involved in safety management and toolbox meetings

· Participate in risk assessments

· Check setup of work areas, stope brows for upcoming work and prepare as necessary

· Setup cross shift
