In addition to our oil sands business, we have shale gas land in Northeast British Columbia, a power station in Balzac, Alberta, and interest in a wind farm in southern Alberta. Calgary is our regional corporate office for all North America.

Therefore, we are seeking a Team Lead - Marketing Operations Accounting to join our growing team in Calgary, Alberta. This dynamic role will be instrumental in providing leadership, direction, and strategic financial support for marketing operations, ensuring accurate reporting, effective risk management, and alignment with overall business objectives.


Your Background

- Minimum of 10+ years of total Finance and/or accounting experience, including 7 years’ progressive experience concentrated within the commodity marketing space, supporting crude oil, natural gas, and/or power operations.

- 1–3 years of experience providing day‑to‑day leadership, work coordination, and coaching for a small team of finance or accounting professionals.

- Post-secondary degree in Accounting or Finance with a recognized professional accounting designation such as CPA.

- Strong working knowledge of commodity marketing accounting standards, settlements, and financial reporting.

- Experience with SOX policies and procedures and control review.

- Demonstrated ability to lead work through technical expertise and coaching in a team‑lead or senior professional capacity.

- Working knowledge of SAP, BW and commodity trading system such as Right Angle is an asset.

- Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyze data, reconcile complex balances, and clearly communicate financial results to cross‑functional partners.


Your Role with Our Team

- Lead team with responsibility of accounting and reporting to operations accounting teams the sales, purchases, transportation and inventory information.

- Responsible for the function of confirmation with counterparties, invoicing and settlement of sale and purchase transactions.

- Accurate reporting of monthly marketing results and preparation of analysis for submission to corporate departments.

- Lead role in interfacing with front and mid-office teams.

- Provide leadership and coaching and drive continuous improvement within the team.

- Responsible for the existence and adherence of adequate controls within the business.

- Support the regulatory compliance requirements including periodic government submissions.

- Provide marketing inputs and analysis to support the annual budget preparation.
