Job Purpose:
Oversee Champion marketing and operations for residential, small commercial and C&I businesses including support functions, information technology and call center operations. This role also includes P&L responsibility for all Champion lines-of-business with the exception of large commercial indirect sales.
Critical to this role is the ability to provide day-to-day leadership, process improvement, fraud prevention, product development, drive innovation, as well as marketing and brand management.. In addition, this role will work closely with the Champion leadership team to ensure programs are well understood and supported including KPIs, feedback loops, and operational excellence. This role will report to the president of Calpine Retail and may present to and/or prepare content for the CEO of Calpine and the Board of Directors.
Responsibilities:
•Drive sales in both residential and small commercial segments.
•Ensure marketing strategies are sound and aggressive enough to drive both increased EBITDA, customer count growth and brand awareness.
•Work closely with the executive team to develop and execute plans that align with the company's overall business objectives. This individual will also be responsible for understanding and possibly reporting on market trends and competitor activity.
•Ensure business operations are functioning properly under current conditions and set up to function properly under planned growth conditions.
•Ensure that all support functions, that do not report directly to this role (shared services) (e.g., trading, pricing, credit, accounting, etc.), are operating effectively for the Champion business.
•This role will oversee the business P&L, including budgeting, resource allocation, and performance tracking. This individual will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that marketing initiatives are executed effectively and efficiently.
Critical Success Factors:
•Extensive experience running a retail residential organization, preferably in a subscription-like industry (electricity, insurance, telemarketing, streaming services, etc.)
•Working with residential pricing, including swing/convexity models
•Extensive experience consolidating all aspects of running a large residential and small commercial organization.
•Working knowledge of accrual (GAAP) accounting and mark-to-market accounting
•Ability to promote a team atmosphere across multiple functions
Required Skills/Experience:
•The ideal candidate for this role will have 15 or more years background in a senior leadership role with experience developing and implementing successful strategies in the residential and small commercial electricity or similar sectors. In addition, this individual should have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
•Strong leadership and communication skills are also essential for this position.
•Listening skills as well as the ability to diagnose and resolve problems efficiently
•Demonstrated ability to assess needs, validate direction with key stakeholders, develop and deliver impactful programs, create feedback loops, monitor performance, adjust as needed.
•Expert knowledge of retail electricity (internal and market) processes
•Expert knowledge of key retail electricity systems (e.g., pricing, scheduling, data capture, CIS, CRM, website).
Education:
•Bachelor’s degree in business or related discipline.
Physical Requirements:
•Sitting and standing for long periods of time
•Approximately 10% travel required.
