Supply Chain Manager
The Supply Chain Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the seamless flow of materials and products throughout an organization's operations. This individual is responsible for overseeing the Purchasing and Inventory departments, developing procurement strategies, and ensuring materials are sourced, ordered, and delivered in a timely and cost-effective manner. By managing the end-to-end supply chain process, the manager ensures that inventory levels are optimized to meet production and customer demands without overstocking or creating excess cost. Additionally, they lead the implementation of inventory control systems and ensure data accuracy across warehouse operations.
In our growing, multi-state organization, the Supply Chain Manager also takes on the complex task of vendor negotiations and regional sourcing. They evaluate and establish relationships with suppliers in multiple geographic areas to support operations across different locations, ensuring pricing competitiveness, delivery reliability, and compliance with company standards. This role demands strong analytical skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams while adapting supply chain strategies to meet the evolving needs of a geographically diverse business.
The Supply Chain Manager will report to the COO.
Key Responsibilities:
Purchasing Oversight
•Develop and execute sourcing strategies to support multi-site operations and growth initiatives.
•Manage and develop the department to support multiple sites.
•Negotiate contracts, pricing, and delivery terms with suppliers to ensure best value and reliability.
•Expand vendor relationships to maximize VMI programs.
•Identify local source solutions and ensure that critical products are not single-sourced.
•Establish and maintain strong vendor relationships with a focus on scalability and performance.
•Ensure procurement activities align with company policies and compliance standards.
•Develop processes and controls to ensure that all internal and external audit standards are met.
•Collaborate with Operations, Production, and Finance to forecast material needs across locations.
Inventory Oversight
•Working with the Inventory Manager, design and implement inventory control systems that support multiple facilities and maintain optimal stock levels.
•Oversee inventory audits, cycle counts, and reconciliation processes for accuracy and accountability.
•Monitor inventory KPIs and trends to drive data-informed decisions and minimize excess/obsolete stock.
•Ensure proper storage, handling, and documentation practices across all locations.
Leadership & Reporting
•Lead, mentor, and develop staff within the Purchasing and Inventory departments.
•Work with the Production department, establishing point of use solutions.
•Ensure collaboration with Engineering and Quality to manage change and first piece inspection.
•Establish performance metrics and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
•Implement scalable processes and leverage ERP/MRP systems to support company growth.
•Regularly report on supply chain KPIs to senior leadership, focusing on cost savings, supplier performance, and inventory accuracy.
Qualifications:
•Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Business Administration. or related field
•5+ years of progressive experience in supply chain, purchasing, or inventory management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
•Proven experience supporting operations across multiple sites or regions.
•Strong knowledge of procurement and inventory management systems
•Experience working with internal and external auditors.
•Exceptional negotiation, organizational, and analytical skills.
•APICS/CPIM or CPSM certification is a strong plus.
Working Conditions:
•Office and warehouse environments; periodic travel to company facilities and supplier sites.
