Description
Located at our Heartland Petrochemical Complex facility, Heartland’s Manager Supply Chain will lead a high-performing team responsible for contracts, procurement, sourcing and materials management (“Heartland SCM”). Reporting to Inter Pipeline’s Heartland Business Unit’s VP Finance, this role plays a critical role in ensuring cost-effective purchasing, supplier performance, inventory optimization and alignment with production and maintenance needs. Heartland SCM supports operations, maintenance, and the management of raw materials such as chemicals, catalysts, and additives for the production of polypropylene finished products.
Key Activities & Responsibilities:
•Lead and support continuous improvement efforts across end-to-end supply chain functions, delivering measurable value to the business.
•Develop and implement a supply chain risk management framework, including change management initiatives to mitigate risks and support business continuity.
•Manage supplier relationships to support accurate forecasting, just-in-time delivery, and collaborative issue resolution.
•Collaborate with production teams to ensure alignment between raw material supply and manufacturing schedules.
•Drive innovation and implement improvements to enhance business continuity, resilience, and operational agility.
•Ensure contract and procurement processes are followed from conception to close-out, in accordance with company policies and practices.
•Define, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure alignment with strategic goals and performance expectations.
•Mentor, lead, and coach team members, embedding a culture of accountability, efficiency, and continuous learning.
•Establish governance standards and ensure compliance with internal policies, industry regulations, and system alignment with business needs.
•Lead alignment and execution of contract and purchasing systems, ensuring process compliance and strong business support.
Qualifications & Experience:
•Minimum 8-10 years of progressive responsibility in Supply Chain Management, ideally in a manufacturing role.
•Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a related field.
•Strong knowledge of ERP systems, procurement software, and inventory management tools.
•Experience with SAP, SAP Sourcing, Maximo, and Microsoft Applications.
•Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
•Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
•Strong leadership and communication skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
•Strong understanding of system integration processes, data flow management, and enterprise system architecture.
•Proven experience in managing supply chain planning, risk management, KPI reporting, and quality management systems.
•Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex data and make informed, data-driven decisions.
•Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with internal teams, stakeholders, and external vendors.
•Strong negotiation, influencing ability, and dispute resolution skills.
•Detail-oriented with organizational and time management skills.
•Excellent communication (written and oral) and customer service skills.
