Job Overview
The Plant Supervisor provides leadership and direction to teammates to attain shorthand long-term goals, optimize team effectiveness, and meet daily work schedules in the Verge/Packaging Department. Drive improvements in safety, morale, and cost control. Achieve departmental goals and metrics by supervising teammates, to achieve safety goals, productivity goals, material usage targets, inventory targets, product quality requirements and equipment yield.
This position is based at an active mine site and requires daily onsite presence. Work conditions may include uneven terrain, climbing ladders, navigating steps, and exposure to varying weather conditions such as heat, rain, or mud.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure teammates perform work according to established safety rules and practices, environmental and housekeeping standards while striving for ZERO Accidents.
- Understands customer quality requirements, assures teammates understand and follow these requirements.
- Implements and assures procedures are followed to detect and eliminate nonconforming incoming supplies.
- Implements and assures procedures are followed for the department.
- Partner with Human Resources in staffing and retention.
- Coordinate purchase of supplies necessary to ensure functioning of the department.
- Coordinate with Processing Supervisor to ensure clay supply for operations is satisfactory.
- Supervise, train, develop, and review staff.
- Plans operations, establishing priorities and sequences for packaging products.
- Communicate key metrics to Plant leadership and production teams to stimulate process improvement and cost reduction.
- Partner with Maintenance and Process Improvement to coordinate maintenance activities to meet established preventative maintenance goals.
- Maintain procedure manuals and training aids
- Establish and ensure effectiveness of teammates training
- Gather and analyze data; make recommendations for process improvements and cost reductions.
- Meet line efficiency goals along with crew efficiencies and maximize daily production.
- Complete required reporting and documentation.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education:
- Experience with an ERP Manufacturing system preferred
- 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, proven leadership experience preferred
- Experience in bulk material handling and packaging equipment supplies desired
- Proficient in excel, word, mathematical skills, computer skills and reasoning ability.
