The Student Intern – Data Network Engineer will assist the Voice & Data Network support team in providing technical assistance with the daily operations of the organization’s IT data network.
- Assist the Data Network team with the architecture, implementation, maintenance and troubleshooting support of the network communications
- Assist with installations and support of servers, workstations, network hardware, DNS and DHCP appliances, network devices (including Wi-Fi devices, switches, routers, etc.) and peripherals
- Assist with developing and maintaining documentation, including addressing plans, network topology diagrams, rack elevation, data flows and variables.
- Provide support, consisting of technical and problem resolution support, along with maintenance of the networking infrastructure and environment.
- Coursework in IT and other relevant courses emphasizing OSI model/network engineering
- Knowledge with network routing protocols and switching technologies like Spanning Tree, Ether Channel, Port Security, and 802.1X, etc.
- Knowledge of network analysis, packet decodes, common protocols, familiarity with analysis utilities
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent skills in documentation of systems and procedures
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
