The successful candidate will assist with on-site health and safety program development. They will get great exposure to workplace safety and health regulations, creation of basic checklists and learn about maintenance and operational processes.

What you’ll do

- Assist with SDS database management.

- Assist with updating of plant procedures and processes

- Perform audits & inspections of plant processes

- Perform research into safety standards to determine what parts of the standard MEP must meet to satisfy legal requirements. (e.g. NFPA standards for rescue and/or fire-fighting).

- Facilitate training / practice for Operations and maintenance technicians

Who you are

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:

- Legally authorized to work in Canada full-time for the duration of your work term and able to produce documentation upon application (e.g., work visa)

- Available to begin work in May 2026

- Strong verbal and written communication skills

- Critical thinker and ability to work independently with limited supervision in a fast-paced, high-performing, team environment

- Flexible to changing work demands and ability to prioritize

- Innovative, with a strong desire to learn and the ability to encourage new ways of looking at problems, processes or solutions

- Demonstrates collaboration by actively seeking out diverse people and organizations to collectively achieve business goals

- Excellent computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

- Understanding of key safety principles and demonstrated safety leadership

Education

- Must be enrolled in a Health and Safety, Emergency Response or Industrial Hygiene Program at an accredited post-secondary institution at the time of intended work term and returning to full-time studies after the work term OR registered in an accredited post-secondary co-op or internship program for the duration of the work term

- Candidates currently enrolled in either a Masters or Ph.D. program at an accredited post-secondary institution may also be considered

- New graduates are not eligible for student opportunities.

Working Conditions

- May include frequency of travel, sitting, standing, computer work, lifting, driving, working at site, etc.

Safety Sensitive

- This may be a safety-sensitive role, and you will also be required to wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during required work hours. Furthermore, you will also be required to pass the pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol assessment requirements.

- Safety sensitive positions require the operation of a motor vehicle, applicants are asked to provide a recent (i.e., issued within the previous 4 weeks) original driver’s abstract, for the preceding 5-year period, if offered the position. A valid Canadian class 5 Driver's License with no restrictions (i.e., non GDL) is a requirement for this role
