Streetlighting Bucket Operator

Performs work from aerial devices and ladders to install and maintain streetlights and related equipment. Working hours are typically a 10-hour day.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

- Operates various tools for the work (manual digging devices, wrenches, hammers, come-alongs, handling, etc.).

- Clears work area and maintains safe jobsite conditions and assists with work and material assembling from the ground

- Excavates to assist in the installation of structures or cables as required by contract specification.

- Will have contact with public and private property owners to communicate the work to be performed.

- Exposed to traffic and may be required to have training on traffic flagging.

- All other duties as required or requested by Supervisors.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Must be 18 years of age or older.

- Must have reliable transportation to and from work.

- Able to:

- meet and maintain weight restrictions for bucket trucks as identified by the truck manufacturer.

- work long hours and overtime, emergencies, weekends, etc. Subject to call out work.

- work with hands above head for extended periods of time.

- work efficiently and effectively while working at heights.

- safely enter and exit the aerial device and rear-end of the bucket and derrick trucks.

Education & Experience

- High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.

Pre-Screen

- Upon offer, employees may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background, and/or MVR check.

License & Certifications:

- Valid Driver's License required.

- CDL preferred

- Ability to pass DOT physical & obtain DOT medical card required.

Travel Requirements:

- Must be willing to travel out of town/state for regular/emergency storm work.

Physical Requirements:

- RARE: (less than 10%): Sitting, Kneeling, Crawling, Color Vision, Climbing Stairs

- OCCASIONAL: (up to 33%): Stooping, Squatting, Climbing On/Off Truck, Climbing Ladders, Pushing, Reading, Lifting up to 50 lbs.

- FREQUENT: (up to 66%): Carrying, Pulling, Balancing, body-twisting, Hearing/Speech Range, Lifting, Lifting up to 10 lbs., Manual Dexterity, Speaking Clearly, Walking

- CONTINUOUS: (up to 100%): Standing, Sense of Touch, Gripping, Seeing, Reaching, range-of-motion, Depth Perception, Lifting over 10 lbs. to 50 lbs., Climbing.
