The Steel Fabricator supports DeLong’s production operations by manufacturing high quality steel bridge components and assemblies that meet shop standards and project specifications. This role performs fabrication, assembly, and related production tasks that contribute to the fabrication of safe, durable steel bridges and structural components for the transportation and building industries. With a focus on craftsmanship, safety, and quality, the Steel Fabricator helps ensure projects are completed accurately and efficiently while supporting DeLong’s reputation for excellence. Responsibilities

Safety and Compliance: Consistently follow company safety policies, procedures, and training requirements to support a safe working environment. Maintain awareness of safety expectations and proactively contribute to hazard prevention and risk reduction. Look out for one another by having your team’s back and keeping safety top of mind in everything we do.

Fabrication and Quality Accountability: Ensure steel bridge components and assemblies are fabricated in accordance with internal shop standards, project specifications, and quality requirements. Maintain accountability for workmanship, accuracy, and adherence to procedures.

Production Support and Teamwork: Support production schedules by maintaining reliability, clear communication, and strong collaboration with your team, supervisors, and internal and external partners. Proactively communicate concerns or issues that may impact quality, safety, or delivery timelines.

Workplace Organization and Efficiency: Maintain an organized, efficient, and professional work area that supports safe operations and productivity. Use materials, tools, and equipment responsibly to minimize waste, rework, and downtime.

Professional Development and Performance: Participate in performance reviews and goal-setting discussions. Engage in on-the-job training and development opportunities to build fabrication, welding, and trade skills while supporting long-term career growth within the organization.

Required Skills and Qualifications

High school diploma or GED preferred, or equivalent work experience. Must be dependable with regular attendance and able to work effectively in a team environment. Ability to accurately read and use a standard tape measure is required. Previous experience in construction, fabrication, material handling, or manual labor is helpful but not required. Blueprint reading and welding skills will be developed through training. Candidates must demonstrate a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and a commitment to DeLong’s core values of People First, Respect and Integrity, Innovation, Dependability, and Enjoyment.

We are currently hiring for all shifts, Day Shift: Monday-Friday; 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM; Night Shift: Monday-Thursday; 3:15 PM - 1:45 AM; Weekend Shift: Friday-Sunday; 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM
