Probst Electric, Inc. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our finance team. Reporting to the Shared Services Controller, this role supports day-to-day accounting operations, including month-end close, journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting. The Staff Accountant role will have various accounting and finance responsibilities, including but not limited to the following:
- Perform general ledger and cost accounting functions in support of construction operations
- Reconcile bank accounts and other general ledger accounts—collaborate with departments to resolve discrepancies
- Support preparation and filing of required federal, state, and local tax forms
- Execute month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and supporting documentationMaintain compliance with internal accounting policies, procedures, and applicable regulations
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance reporting efficiency and cross-departmental workflow
- Maintain compliance with internal accounting policies, procedures, and applicable regulations

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
- At least one year of accounting or related experience
- Familiarity with JD Edwards is a definite plus
- Prior construction industry accounting experience
- Experience supporting month-end close processes, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office, with the ability to analyze and manage financial data
- Ability to pass required drug and background screening
