Staff Accountant, Financial Reporting

Elliot is a full-service electrical contractor specializing in overhead and underground distribution, transmission, substations, lighting, traffic signaling, utility locating, and industrial/commercial services.

Job Summary

Davis H. Elliot Company, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to support the Accounting and Financial Reporting functions. This role is responsible for assisting with day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting support, and administrative accounting processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, sound accounting fundamentals, and the ability to collaborate across departments while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist with the monthly accounting close within the Financial Reporting team.

- Set up customers, certified payroll jobs, close jobs, etc. in the financial system (Spectrum)

- Provide key assistance with storm-related accounting and business administration duties.

- Maintain and organize accounting records, including contracts and supporting documentation

- Generate routine accounting reports, including aging schedules and work-in-progress (WIP) reports

- Code invoices and submit for accounts payable processing; assist with credit card reconciliations

- Support external audit requests by providing documentation and schedules as needed

- Assist with process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy within accounting operations

- Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general accounting systems

- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

- Effective written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

- 1+ years’ experience in accounting, finance, or a related department.

- Experience with ERP or financial systems (e.g., Spectrum or similar)

- CPA or CPA-eligible status is a plus
