This Staff Accountant role is responsible for overseeing and analyzing Continental Resources’ accounts receivables to ensure timely customer payments and the accuracy of financial records. This role involves managing incoming payments related to joint interest billing activities, accurately applying them to customer accounts, performing account reconciliations, and addressing any discrepancies. Additionally, this accountant may handle collections, respond to customer inquiries, and generate financial reports to support decision-making and maintain compliance with accounting standards.
- Processes and monitors incoming payments from customers and partners.
- Ensures payments are correctly applied to outstanding invoices.
- Communicates with customers to obtain payment details.
- Investigates and resolves discrepancies in customer accounts.
- Handles multiple accounts efficiently while meeting deadlines.
- Generates aging reports and assist with collections.
- Supports month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Maintains accurate records for auditing and reporting purposes.
- Identifies opportunities to streamline accounts receivable operations.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Strong knowledge of accounting practices and procedures.
- Strong analytical and math skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication for interacting with customers and internal teams.

- Proficient computer skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel to streamline data analysis.
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks, taking initiative to accomplish goals in the most efficient way possible while meeting strict deadlines.
- Strong initiative with the ability to work independently with little supervision.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of three (3) years in an accounts receivable role.
- Advanced skills in MS Excel.
- An acceptable pre-employment background and drug test.
- Oil and gas accounting experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of SAP.
- Experience in cash application.
- Knowledge of joint interest billing practices in oil and gas industry
- Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, and stooping.
- Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Manual dexterity is sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
