About The Goldfield District Project
Located on the Walker Lane trend in Esmeralda County, Nevada, about 30 miles south of Tonopah, the Goldfield District Project can be accessed via U.S. Highway 95 from Las Vegas or Reno. This project is conventional open-pit, heap leach project in a prolific mining jurisdiction that provides substantial upside potential.
Goldfield District Project promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.
About The Opportunity
We have an opportunity for a
Specialist, Safetyto join our Goldfield Project team located in
Goldfield, Nevada.
Reporting to the Superintendent, Safety and Security, the Specialist, Safety is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring workplace safety programs to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations. This role involves identifying hazards, conducting safety inspections and training, investigating incidents, and promoting a culture of safety to reduce risk, prevent injuries, and support a safe and compliant work environment.
Your Responsibilities Will Include, But Are Not Limited To
- Develop and implement training material and programs, including, but not limited to new employee onboarding, MSHA annual refresher training, contractor hazard training, and permit to work programs.
- Implement and monitor safety best practices among team members and collaborate with departmental managers to ensure effective implementation.
- Draw on your technical and professional expertise, knowledge & experience to identify & recommend tactical solutions to defined problems in practices.
- Integrate business information, compare, analyze & produce reports to identify trends, discrepancies & inconsistencies for decision-making purposes.
- Support site leadership in executing Company and regulatory safety initiatives, including the Work Safe Home Safe practices.
- Develop and implement the sites emergency response team.
- Achieve key performance indicators and collaborate with the site to maintain alignment with company vision
- Develop and implement an industrial hygiene program.
- Be visible to the Goldfield workforce and follow up on their safety concerns with the Goldfield Leadership Team.
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures to ensure consistency and safe practices are understood and followed
- May be assigned other duties as required.
About You
Our ideal candidate will possess the following:
- High school diploma with a minimum of 5 years of health and safety experience, and at least 5 years in mining.
- Outstanding attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Track record focused on safety implementations and management.
- Working knowledge of computers and experience using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Excellent organization and time management skills; ability to develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish assigned work.
- Must be a positive, proactive, dedicated team participant.
- Must possess critical thinking skills; ability to use logic and reasoning to analyze and identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
- EMT certified instructor or the ability to gain certification.
- Current RSO or the ability to gain certification.
- MSHA blue card instructor with the ability to communicate effectively, while also possessing an in depth knowledge of MSHA regulatory requirements.
- Professional health and safety certification preferred.
