About The Role
We are seeking a talented and motivated Software Engineer to join our innovative team at Oklo. In this role, you will work closely with nuclear engineers to model, simulate, design, and deploy advanced fission reactor technology. Your primary responsibility will be to leverage your software development skills to support reactor design and analysis, optimize data storage, and develop tools for visualization and evaluation of reactor concepts. While a nuclear background is not mandatory, a strong curiosity and eagerness to learn about nuclear energy and related technologies are essential. You will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced startup environment, tackling diverse challenges that directly impact the future of clean energy. Your work will contribute to improving safety, efficiency, and resiliency of next-generation nuclear reactors, helping to power a sustainable future.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or an equivalent work experience
- 0–2 years of professional software engineering experience (internships, co-ops, or significant projects are a plus)
- Fluency in Python
- Proficiency with Git
- Curiosity and passion for nuclear power, sustainable energy, and closing the nuclear fuel cycle
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, preferably GitLab
- Experience with Rust programming language
- Knowledge of optimization techniques, statistics, or design of experiments
- Transform and optimize the storage of reactor data and physics results to enhance analysis efficiency
- Design and configure CI/CD pipelines to facilitate multiphysics analyses and streamline workflows
- Develop visualization tools for reactor engineers to compare and evaluate different reactor designs and physics models
- Integrate simulation tools into analysis pipelines to improve accuracy and performance
- Implement physics kernels to address unresolved problems or enhance existing models' performance
- Develop reactor optimization schemes and statistical experiments to inform design improvements
- Identify and improve process inefficiencies in reactor design through software solutions
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to develop innovative solutions for reactor modeling and simulation challenges
