The Shipping and Receiving Specialist II performs intermediate-level shipping and receiving tasks, including managing inventory, preparing shipments, and coordinating deliveries. This role builds on the foundational skills of a Specialist I and involves greater independence in executing duties while maintaining a focus on safety, accuracy, and efficiency.
The essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Examine and verify contents of shipments with bills of lading, packing slips, invoices, and related documents.
- Receive and inspect incoming shipments to ensure accuracy with purchase orders.
- Prepare outgoing shipments, including palletizing, shrink wrapping, banding, weighing, and labeling products.
- Create and manage shipping documents such as work orders, bills of lading, and routing orders.
- Manage inventory of shipping materials and ensure proper organization and storage.
- Coordinate delivery schedules with carriers through tools like “My Carrier” and other software.
- Train and assist Shipping and Receiving Specialist I employees in daily tasks.
- Maintain accurate records of shipments, including discrepancies and damages.
- Promote and enforce safety practices within the shipping and receiving department.
- High School diploma or GED required; 1–2 years of experience in shipping, receiving, or logistics preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Willingness to follow written or oral work instructions.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and stand or walk for extended periods.
- Pre-employment drug testing required.
