We are currently seeking a Shipping & Receiving Coordinator to join our team in Calgary. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our shipping and receiving department, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with company standards. This is a critical leadership role that supports production and customer satisfaction by ensuring timely and accurate movement of materials and finished goods.
Shift: Day Shift: Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm
Key Responsibilities:
Shipping and Receiving Management:
•Develop and execute shipping schedules aligned with VIP, Sales, Fabrication, and Production requirements.
•Receive and inspect incoming shipments; verify against purchase orders and document discrepancies.
•Prepare and coordinate outgoing shipments including proper packaging, labeling, and documentation.
•Schedule and communicate with drivers to ensure timely pickups and deliveries.
•Supervise and assist with loading/unloading using appropriate equipment.
Inventory Control:
•Identify incoming materials for jobs with appropriate job number, name, and storage location.
•Support physical inventory audits and track in-shop inventory for ongoing projects.
•Organize plate deliveries and materials in an efficient and safe manner.
Quality Control:
•Inspect inbound and outbound materials for damage or quality issues.
•Escalate any quality discrepancies promptly to the appropriate team.
Communication:
•Work closely with internal teams (Production, Fabrication, Galvanizing, and Sales) to align logistics with project timelines.
•Use email and internal systems to ensure clear, documented communication.
•Maintain the visual shipping/receiving board with up-to-date schedules and tasks.
Compliance and Documentation:
•Maintain complete and accurate records including packing slips, BOLs, and confirmations.
•Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational regulations.
Leadership:
•Assign tasks and provide direction to shipping and receiving staff and drivers.
•Identify and implement process improvements to streamline logistics and reduce errors.
Maintenance:
•Coordinate routine truck and forklift inspections and repairs.
•Monitor driver logs for regular maintenance completion.
Qualifications:
•3+ years experience in a shipping/receiving or logistics role, with 1+ year in a lead or supervisory capacity preferred.
•Strong organizational and communication skills.
•Forklift certification and experience with overhead cranes are a serious asset.
•Experience in a steel or manufacturing environment is preferred.
•Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing schedules.
