I. Position Description

The Shipping and Receiving clerk will perform work associated with the safe and efficient operation of the Shipping & Receiving Department, which is the central location for storing, sizing, packing and shipping products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

•

Operates lift trucks and other equipment to load packaged products on appropriate vehicles for transport to storage or shipping.

•

Sort and stage material for production operations.

•

Sieve packaged material for production operations.

•

Performs minor maintenance as necessary on all shipping equipment.

•

Inspects equipment and reports malfunctions to the Supervisor.

•

Stages and loads products for shipments in trucks, containers, and boxcars.

•

Fabricates wall forms, and other shipping related equipment.

•

Unloads raw materials for plant use and stages them in appropriate areas.

•

Assists with operations needs when forklift experience is needed.

•

Inspects trucks, containers, and boxcars to verify they are clean and undamaged.

•

Determines required labeling and loading instructions and completes related paperwork.

•

Operates and maintains printing devices.

•

Operates palletizer equipment.

II. Qualifications

•

Forklift experience preferred.

•

High School Diploma and the ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing.

•

Demonstrated ability to perform work with accuracy and attention to detail.

•

Must be able to learn and comprehend job performance duties and responsibilities.

•

Must possess mechanical aptitude required to make adjustments and minor repairs to equipment and instrumentation.

III. Physical Requirements & Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. The employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment.
