The hands-on Shift Manager will oversee daily operations during assigned shifts at our coffee restaurant. - Oversee the day-to-day operations of the store during scheduled shifts.
- Supervise baristas and kitchen staff, delegate tasks, and ensure smooth workflow.
- Maintain high standards of customer service, cleanliness, and product quality.
- Open or close the store as assigned, following proper procedures.
- Handle cash register operations, including balancing drawers and daily financial reporting.
- Assist with training new team members and reinforcing company standards.
- Manage inventory levels and restock supplies as needed.
- Address customer concerns promptly and professionally.
- Enforce health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
- Communicate effectively with upper management regarding staffing, performance, and shift activities.
- 1–2 years of supervisory experience in a coffee shop, café, or fast-paced restaurant setting preferred.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills.
- Excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with POS systems and cash handling procedures.
- Ability to lead by example in customer service, professionalism, and work ethic.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
The Shift Manager role requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods, often up to eight hours or more during a shift. The position involves frequent bending, reaching, and stooping, as well as the use of hands and fingers to operate coffee machines, kitchen equipment, and point-of-sale systems. Candidates should be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds, such as boxes of supplies or containers of ingredients. The environment is fast-paced and may require multitasking under pressure. Effective verbal communication and visual acuity are important for interacting with customers and ensuring accuracy in food and beverage preparation.
