The Shaft Miner’s duties include field support, maintenance of the shaft dewatering system, rehab of the shaft and construction of the loading pocket infrastructure.
The following is a list of duties relating to this position. These may be adjusted by your supervisor when required by the project. Your safety will always be our priority with all assigned tasks:
- Follow all established policies, procedures, and best practices as well as industry specific regulations
- Always be physically and mentally fit for work
- Identify unsafe conditions and report promptly
- Comfortable and experienced with working at heights
- Follow directives from shift supervisors
- Maintain/advance shaft dewatering system
- Perform timber shaft rehab (installing pony sets as required, changing shaft guides, etc…)
- Loading pocket construction
- Ability to work more than 40 hours per week, overtime, days & nights
- Minimum Education: Common core completion as well as related MTCU modules specifically U0084 – Perform Shaft Maintenance
- Minimum Experience: 3-5 years of experience as a shaft miner. Experience in timber shafts considered an asset.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions
- Experience working in a camp setting (FI/FO)

Work location is in Red Lake, Ontario. Schedule will be 14 in & 14 out.
