Tidewater has an immediate opening for a full time Senior Process Engineer, Renewables, reporting to the General Manager, Prince George Renewables. This is a full-time position based in Prince George, BC. We are seeking a Senior Process Engineer to support the safe, reliable, and economic operation of a Renewable Diesel (RD) facility. This role will serve as a technical authority for hydro processing operations, including feedstock pretreatment, hydrotreating, hydrogen management, and utilities.
The successful candidate will provide day-to-day operational support, lead process optimization initiatives, and support capital projects from concept through commissioning. This is a high-impact role that requires strong refinery fundamentals and plant operational experience.
Provide technical support for renewable diesel process units, including:
Monitor unit performance, identify constraints, develop Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and drive continuous improvement in:
Involved in planned and unplanned outages, including troubleshooting, shutdown support, initial/final process equipment inspections, found work, and startup support
Troubleshoot process upsets, fouling, corrosion, and operability issues
Develop and maintain heat and material balances, PFDs, P&IDs, and operating envelopes
Lead or support Management of Change (MOC) activities and process safety reviews (PHA/HAZOP)
Provide technical input for maintenance capital projects, including:
Ensure process designs and operating practices comply with:
Maintain and improve operating procedures and alarm management
Ensure compliance with Tidewater’s Professional Practice Management Plan (PPMP) to satisfy the requirements set by EGBC
Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, and HSE teams
Interface with licensors, catalyst vendors, and technology providers
A Professional Engineer designation recognized by EGBC or APEGA
Proficient in Microsoft Office Software (Excel, Word, PPT, etc.)
Experience with HYSYS refining simulation software or equivalent
8-10+ years’ experience in refining, petrochemical or other process plant environment
Experience with lipid-based feedstocks (canola oil, soybean oil, tallow, UCO) would be an asset
Ability to lead and complete multidisciplinary initiatives in a timely manner
Knowledge of ASME and API codes and regulations
