We are seeking a Senior Overhead Crane Service Technician to lead the installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of overhead cranes, hoists, rigging hardware, and below-the-hook lifting devices. This is a hands-on, field-based role for an experienced technician who takes pride in safety, precision, and customer service while supporting industrial and heavy equipment operations.
You’ll serve as a technical leader in the field—troubleshooting complex electrical and mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and building strong relationships with customers through reliable, high-quality service.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience servicing overhead cranes, hoists, or industrial material handling systems
- Strong working knowledge of three-phase power systems, motor controls, and crane electrical architecture
- Mechanical experience with gearboxes, brakes, wire rope, sheaves, structural components, and runway systems
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
- Demonstrated experience performing OSHA- and ANSI-compliant inspections and documentation
- Proven ability to lead service work independently and support or mentor junior technicians
- Strong customer communication skills and a professional, safety-first approach in the field
- Ability to work safely at heights and in active industrial and construction environments
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Lead inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and commissioning of overhead cranes, hoists, runway systems, wire rope, rigging hardware, and below-the-hook lifting devices
- Diagnose and resolve complex electrical (up to 480V) and mechanical system issues, including motors, controls, brakes, limit switches, and variable frequency drives (VFDs)
- Perform and document initial, frequent, and periodic inspections in compliance with OSHA, ANSI, and manufacturer standards
- Execute and oversee preventive maintenance programs to improve system reliability and reduce unplanned downtime
- Serve as a technical resource for customers and internal teams, providing system evaluations, repair recommendations, and field-level support
- Identify safety risks and ensure strict adherence to lockout/tagout procedures and site safety protocols
- Interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical documentation to support diagnostics and system configuration
- Operate and oversee the safe use of man lifts, forklifts, and jobsite access equipment
- Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and compliance documentation
- Communicate clearly with customers regarding equipment condition, repair scope, and recommended system improvements
- Pay Range: $30–$45 per hour, based on experience, certifications, and technical skill level
