Since September 2009, Whitecap has experienced remarkable growth, increasing production from 850 boe/d to over 365,000 boe/d. Whitecap Resources is an oil and natural gas producer in Western Canada who sells their natural gas production into diversified markets across North America. Whitecap is the 5th largest producer of natural gas in Western Canada. We are looking for a Sr. Natural Gas Commercial Representative to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Manager, Natural Gas Marketing, you will support the Marketing Department’s efforts to further build-out natural gas markets across North America and globally through LNG. The role has a long-term focus liaising with the Natural Gas marketing group to evaluate LNG, pipeline open seasons, and other alternative natural gas supply arrangements.
- Evaluate LNG supply opportunities
- Evaluate and make recommendations on power plant supply opportunities
- Assist in the evaluation of natural gas pipeline transport open seasons
- Seek out and evaluate alternative opportunities that fit within Whitecap’s long term natural gas diversification strategy
- Compile comparative analysis of similar opportunities for internal review and decision making at the executive level
- Proactively identify business risks and opportunities
- Manage counterparty credit risk in accordance with the Risk Management and Counterparty Credit Policy
- Other analytical, reporting and evaluation requirements as needed
- Strong economic modelling skills
- Strong understanding of export pipeline economics in North America
- Experience in modelling LNG and power related gas supply opportunities would be considered an asset
- Minimum of ten (10) years of related natural gas marketing experience
- Familiarity with natural gas pipeline tariffs and processes
- Strong relationships with the natural gas marketing industry stakeholders
- Self-starter, motivated to initiate projects and analyze innovative solutions to business challenges
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills and you are able to manage and build strategic internal and external relationships
- A high degree of commercial aptitude and financial acumen
- Strong stakeholder management skills
