Primary Purpose
Responsible for natural gas scheduling activities to optimize Sempra Gas & Power's portfolio of transportation and storage assets. Confirm and nominate customer supply obligations in accordance with contract provisions and tariff, timing and procedures. Input movement of physical gas in ETRM system to reflect actual gas flows and coordinate with back-office and counterparties for invoicing of physical gas activities. Provides work leadership to junior gas scheduling roles which may include the distribution and review of work.
Duties and Responsibilities
Using a thorough understanding of transportation contracts, flow rates, and customer rankings, manually evaluate and schedule pipeline interconnects appropriately based upon capacity limitations. Have a thorough understanding of contract entitlements, receipt and delivery points, and capacities across the pipeline. Regularly apply problem solving skills to more efficiently and effectively schedule the pipeline.
Manage nominations, confirmations, imbalances, and other related activities on various natural gas pipelines and storage facilities.
Ability to make key decisions, under pressure, while interpreting guidelines within our pipeline tariff, customer contract regulations, interconnect curtailments and any operating limitations. Being able to make correct assessments and implementing those decisions is a major component of the success of our group.
Develop, communicate and collaborate with customers and interconnecting pipeline personnel to provide consultation and solutions.
Monitor and analyze pipeline curtailments and operational issues to be able to maximize pipeline capacity for customers. Advise and educate junior schedulers and communicate effectively with Gas Control to optimize operations.
Train, mentor, and provide work leadership to junior schedulers.
Stay current with pipeline tariffs and rate cases as required for our client base, regulatory and accounting.
Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or similar field of study.
7+ years in a comparable natural gas scheduling role.
Knowledge of US North American natural gas pipeline scheduling, operations and constraints.
Knowledge of natural gas industry practices.
Experience scheduling West pipelines with advanced knowledge of El Paso.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to negotiate and advise various commercial, accounting, and operating teams.
Ability to schedule on the West and Gulf interstate and intrastate pipelines.
Ability to develop and maintain a professional network of Interstate and Intrastate pipeline representatives.
Ability to use Microsoft Office, specifically in Excel.

Preferred Qualifications
