# Job Title: Sr. Manager, Natural Gas
Key Areas of Accountability and Responsibility
The APMC marketing team manages the province’s royalty natural gas volumes. Reporting to the VP, BD & Marketing, this position leads the marketing and business development activities for Crown natural gas assets, including NGLs. The Senior Manager is responsible for developing and executing commercial strategies, optimizing transportation and storage assets, and identifying opportunities aligned with APMC’s mandate. This role includes direct leadership of a team and cross-functional collaboration across government and industry.
- Support the VP in developing and executing commercial strategies that align with APMC’s mandate, including identifying market expansion opportunities and risk mitigation strategies.
- Conduct and advise on market research to identify emerging trends, competitive threats, and commercial opportunities in Canada and throughout North American natural gas markets.
- Collaborate with internal teams and Government of Alberta Ministries to develop strategic partnerships, alliances, and joint ventures that enhance APMC’s reach and capabilities.
- Build and maintain relationships with producers, midstream operators, infrastructure companies, end users, and innovation ecosystem stakeholders to elevate APMC’s visibility and reputation.
- Liaise with back office, legal, scheduling, and risk teams to ensure seamless execution of trades and contracts.
- Monitor regulatory developments and market fundamentals to inform trading decisions and strategic planning.
- Support succession planning and capability building within the marketing function. Identify training needs and promote professional growth among team members.
- Build and lead a team of natural gas marketers. Provide direction, coaching, and performance management to ensure alignment with APMC’s strategic goals and foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the execution of physical and financial transactions. Optimize transportation and storage assets to enhance value and mitigate producer risk. Ensure compliance with credit policies and risk frameworks.

- 10+ years of senior level experience in natural gas marketing, trading, and commercial strategy.
- Proven leadership experience managing high-performing teams in a dynamic energy environment.
- Deep understanding of Canadian, U.S., and international natural gas markets, including pipeline logistics, storage, LNG and pricing dynamics.
- Demonstrated ability to structure and execute physical and financial transactions.
- Strong analytical and modeling skills to support commercial decision-making.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience with energy trading systems and platforms (e.g., ICE, NGX, ETRM).
- Ability to work effectively across government and industry, with a high level of professionalism and integrity.
