The Senior Health & Safety Specialist – Programs plays a vital role in supporting safe, reliable operations and advancing EPCOR USA’s Health & Safety strategy. In this role, you will collaborate with teams across the organization to design, enhance, and deliver programs that help identify and control hazards, strengthen incident response, and ensure compliance with safety standards. You will also help shape a proactive safety culture by providing expertise, tools, and guidance to internal and external partners.
- Lead and manage EPCOR USA’s Contractor Safety Management Program, ensuring consistent evaluation, onboarding, training, and oversight of all contract partners.
- Develop and maintain contractor safety standards, including prequalification criteria, performance expectations, and field execution requirements.
- Partner closely with Procurement, Operations, and Project teams to embed safety processes throughout the contracting lifecycle.
- Conduct and coordinate contractor audits, field visits, and performance reviews to ensure alignment with EPCOR expectations, OSHA requirements, and project-specific controls.
- Analyze contractor safety performance data to identify trends and recommend improvements.
- Serve as the subject matter expert on contractor risk management for teams and leadership across the business.
- Lead the creation, rollout, and continuous improvement of HSSE management system standards, procedures, and processes.
- Support process mapping, program documentation, and the development of training materials.
- Manage document control, compliance tracking, and review cycles for HSSE documentation.
- Support strategic planning and key operational initiatives, including development of performance metrics.
- Offer technical expertise in hazard identification, risk assessments, industrial hygiene, workplace safety, causal analysis, and regulatory interpretation.
- Assist with incident response and investigations, ensuring root cause analysis and follow-through on corrective actions.
- Review safety performance data and recommend systems-level improvements.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, NFPA, ANSI, ASTM, ASME, NCCCO, and other applicable standards.
- Lead development and implementation of Physical Security and Emergency Management programs.
- Oversee governance for EPCOR USA’s DOT Compliance and Fleet Safety programs.
- Promote EPCOR’s zero-injury culture and Respectful Workplace values in all interactions.
- Bachelor's degree preferred, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
- BCSP certification preferred.
- Valid driver's license.
- 6+ years of experience in a health and safety–related field.- Experience leading contractor safety management programs across multiple regions.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations.
- Working knowledge of NFPA, ANSI, ASTM, ASME, and NCCCO standards.
- Experience developing and implementing health and safety procedures, practices, and tools.
- Experience conducting audits, hazard assessments, and incident investigations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; advanced skills are a plus.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to engage effectively with employees, contractors, and leaders at all levels.
- Familiarity with safety-related technologies.
- Ability to work independently and manage deliverables in a self-directed environment.
