The Senior Estimator serves as a vital technical and commercial resource for our outside sales team. This role is non-quota carrying and focuses on the high-accuracy estimation of electrical equipment costs. You will support the integration of MCG offerings with third-party products to deliver comprehensive facility and industry-based stand-alone solutions and related services.

meet operational needs. MCG reserves the right to modify or assign other duties to this position as
- Work closely with salespeople and clients to support the design and estimation of electrical equipment, including but not limited to low and medium voltage panelboards, switchboards, switchgear, transformers, control systems, battery storage, UPS, ATS, Parallelling Gear and field services.
- Under the direction of an Estimating segment manager, interpret electrical drawings, plans, and specifications, review project schedules and contractual requirements, and develop detailed, accurate proposals using approved software and tools.
- Manage multiple estimates simultaneously, meeting deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Evaluate scope, assumptions, and risk to ensure estimates support project success, margin objectives, and operational execution.
- Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of competing product lines.
- Develop and maintain a detailed knowledge of other products, to include but not limited to Generators, Transfer Systems, Parallelling Gear.
- Act as a technical resource to help outside sales representatives meet customer requirements.
- Strategic Sourcing & Vendor Management:
- Engage with suppliers to obtain pricing, evaluate alternatives, and support equipment procurement strategies.
- Coordinate with external partners and suppliers to quote material and systems not manufactured by MCG as part of a complete, integrated electrical proposal.
- Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of MCG products, applications, and market conditions to support profitable and executable estimates.
- Engage with suppliers to obtain pricing, evaluate alternatives, and support equipment procurement strategies.
- Coordinate with external partners and suppliers to quote material and systems not manufactured by MCG as part of a complete, integrated electrical proposal.
- Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of MCG products, applications, and market conditions to support profitable and executable estimates.
- Provide cross-functional support to sales, project management, engineering, scheduling, and procurement throughout the proposal and project lifecycle.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating tools, processes, and internal resources.
- Maintain organized and accurate records across project lifecycles that may extend up to two years.
- Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the power distribution or switchgear industry.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and industry-specific experience.
- Industry Knowledge: Proven track record in cost estimation within a fast-paced manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of electrical power distribution and switchgear industry practices. Solid mathematical skills to support estimating and pricing responsibilities
- Analytical Thinking: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and make sound judgments with incomplete information in a fast-paced environment.
- Communication: High level of written and verbal communication skills for effective internal and external stakeholder management.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in standard office software and specialized estimation tools (to include, but not limited to, MS Office – Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, Salesforce)
- Attention to Detail: A commitment to accuracy with a meticulous approach to cost modeling and technical reviews.
- Work is primarily performed in an office environment with moderate noise levels.
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.
- Must be able to communicate effectively using phones or computer software.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at MCG or client facilities.
- Must be able to travel between MCG locations or to client sites as needed, some travel could require overnight stays.
