Job Summary:

The Senior Estimator is an exempt position responsible for client engagement, completing thorough takeoffs, preparing detailed client proposals, contributing to department processes and the development of junior estimators.

Essential Tasks:

- Evaluate, research, and analyze bid documents, site condition, drawings, and specifications.

- Perform complex analysis of collected data and metrics.

- Obtain subcontractor and material quotes; seek potential cost savings.

- Develop pricing for proposed work.

- Develop and maintain relationships with company vendors, contractors and clients.

- Review prepared estimates with management.

- Turnover jobs to Project Managers and effectively communicate scope of work, budgets, methodology, schedules, etc. prior to the start of construction.

- Manage other estimators.

Qualifications

- Ability to manage multiple bids and projects at the same time.

- In-depth knowledge of project management.

- Hands-on experience with complex data research activities.

- Strong computer skills: Experience with CAD (computer aided design) and bidding software.

- Basic Geometry and math skills.

- Excellent communication skills.

- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

- Physically able to work seated in front of a computer for long hours at a time.

Education and Experience

Any combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge and abilities listed qualifies.

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction science or related field is preferred.

- The ideal candidate will have 10 or more years of construction estimating experience; Preference given to underground heavy civil utility construction experience.

Work Hours: The normal work hours for this position are Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm at the CK Contractors and Development, LLC office.
