Position Summary
The Senior Accounting Manager is a key member of the accounting team. Ensure company accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles. Has knowledge of commonly used accounting concepts, practices and procedures within energy, services, manufacturing and construction industries. Primary responsibilities include supervision of the monthly, quarterly and annual close and review/reconciliation processes.
The Senior Accounting Manager will also be well versed in financial analysis, budgeting, audit support, and management reporting to be successful in this position. This individual should have strong interpersonal, presentation and analytical skills.
As Senior Accounting Manager, your primary responsibility will be to manage, report, and maintain financial control of project costs in accordance with company policies and customer requirements. Primary responsibilities also include preparation of account reconciliations, journal entries and financial analysis for the monthly, quarterly and annual close, as well as preparing analysis and reporting for the line of business and operations management. The individual will actively participate in the ongoing development, implementation, maintenance and application of the Company’s accounting practices, procedures and standards.
Position Responsibilities•Execute month end closing activities including journal entries, financial analysis, account reconciliations and preparation of supporting schedules.
•Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely and accurate transaction processing.
•Adhere to internal closing schedules and reporting deadlines.
•Assist with the preparation of internal financial reports, including monthly, quarterly and annual financial operating reports, as well as analyses of key performance measures.
•Analyze project costs and performance against budget. Identify variances and suggest corrective actions to ensure financial targets are met.
•Assist in the preparation of project budgets and financial forecasts. Update budgets based on actual costs and revised estimates, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project goals.
•Prepare regular cost reports for project managers and senior management. Highlight and explain any significant overruns or savings, providing actionable insights
•Ensure all project costs are accurately recorded and allocated, including making any cost adjustments to projects.
•Monitor project expenditure and commitments to ensure they remain within approved budget levels, proactively addressing any potential issues.
•Work closely with project managers, finance staff, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely cost control.
•Contract accounting, including Percentage Completion Revenue Recognition, and customer billings.
•Recommend improvements to cost control procedures aim to reduce costs and improve efficiency through continuous process enhancement.
•Monitoring and forecasting cash flow, invoicing, and assisting the Customer Service team in overdue cash collection.
•Review and interpretation of contracts, understanding requirements to ensure proper adherence to GAAP.
•Responsible for timely monthly and quarterly closing and reporting, including J/E’s, Reconciliations, and Management Reports
•Working capital management (i.e., AR, AP, Inventory, and Capital Expenses).
•Develop and maintain a robust management operating system, giving leadership real time feedback on KPIs.
•Support external audit, with timely and accurate information as requested.
•Ensuring financial controls are in place and are followed, maintaining data integrity.
•In conjunction with business leaders, support all budget and forecast efforts to include (but not limited to), sales, EBITDA, cash, labor requirements, sales planning, and capital requirements.
Required Qualifications
•Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. Master’s degree or CPA preferred.
•15+ years of progressive experience in accounting that preferably includes both public and private company experience; 5+ years of managerial experience.
•Education or experience which demonstrate a thorough understanding of Contract Accounting and Revenue Recognition.
•Advanced knowledge of accounting methods, GAAP, procedures and principles, and internal controls.
•Significant working knowledge of various enterprise financial systems.
•Advanced Microsoft Office experience, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
•US work authorization is a precondition of employment. The company will not consider candidates who require sponsorship for a work-authorized visa.

•Analytical, with strong orientation to detail and high degree of accuracy, yet can look at the big picture and assess business impacts when making recommendations.
•Excellent communication (both oral & written) and presentation skills.
•Ability to organize and prioritize responsibilities effectively to meet strict deadlines.
•Process improvement experience a plus (i.e., ideally Lean and/or Six Sigma).
•Ability to work well both independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
•Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community – tactful, mature and professional.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Great Plains Financials or other ERP systems is a plus.
