Job Summary:
The SCADA Engineer will oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems for large-scale solar power projects. This role ensures safe and efficient monitoring and control of all electrical and mechanical systems, supporting project commissioning and ongoing operations.
Key Responsibilities:
• SCADA System Design:
o Develop, configure, and optimize SCADA systems, including hardware and software components, for utility-scale solar projects.
o Create detailed design documentation, including SCADA architecture diagrams, I/O lists, and network topology.
• Integration and Commissioning:
o Integrate SCADA systems with various equipment (inverters, trackers, weather stations, substations) and ensure compatibility with existing infrastructure.
o Support project commissioning, including testing and verifying SCADA functionality and communication protocols (Modbus, DNP3, IEC 61850, etc.).
• Data Acquisition and Reporting:
o Ensure accurate data collection and real-time monitoring of plant performance, alarms, and status indicators.
o Develop customized dashboards, reports, and data analysis tools to support operational excellence and regulatory compliance.
• Cybersecurity:
o Implement and maintain cybersecurity measures for SCADA networks, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
• Maintenance and Support:
o Troubleshoot SCADA system issues, coordinate with vendors and contractors for repairs, and perform regular maintenance activities.
o Provide technical support and training to site operators and maintenance personnel on SCADA system use.
• Documentation and Compliance:
o Maintain accurate as-built documentation, including software configurations and network diagrams.
o Ensure SCADA systems comply with applicable regulations, standards, and utility interconnection requirements.
• Collaboration:
o Work closely with electrical, controls, and project engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of SCADA systems.
o Support cross-functional teams, including Operations & Maintenance (O&M) and Asset Management, with SCADA-related needs.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in SCADA engineering, preferably in the renewable energy sector or utility-scale solar projects.• Proficiency in SCADA software platforms (e.g., Wonderware, Ignition, GE Proficy, or similar).
• Experience with communication protocols: Modbus, DNP3, IEC 61850, OPC UA.
• Knowledge of network design and cybersecurity practices for industrial control systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Familiarity with NERC CIP, ISA/IEC standards, and other regulatory requirements.
• Experience with integrating SCADA systems with plant controllers, meteorological stations, and utility grid interconnections.
• Project management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
