SaskEnergy is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our team. The Senior Engineer, SCADA provides experienced and advanced engineering services to support safe, reliable and secure remote operation of the TransGas pipeline system. The Senior Engineer leads the implementation of highly technical software, computer, communications and cyber security facilities enabling the safe, reliable, efficient and economical control of the pipeline system.
Position Details•Non-union - This position is permanent full time.
Key Accountabilities
•Provide supervision and coordination of technical services for engineering activities or project requirements, ensuring sound application and development of engineering, industry practices and technological advancements; as well as identification and recommendation of effective business solutions to support departmental and corporate objectives.
•Manage major projects and/or long-term programs of a multidisciplinary or complex nature involving engineering design, construction and commissioning of facilities or SCADA system improvements to ensure projects proceed safely and according to planned schedules.
•Lead development and maintenance of SCADA databases, HMIs, and additional applications including, but not limited to, alarm management, display management, gas accounting and gas supply systems.
•Participate in the development and delivery of information provided for facilitating change management of operational and cyber-security SCADA improvements.
•Prepare, review, approve design software and business reports, evaluating and implementing new operational technology to provide cost optimization while meeting business and legislated requirements.
•Provide technical support by applying advanced engineering principles in the investigation, analysis and resolution of SCADA system, GMAS system or communications problems.
•Develop plans for SCADA systems, communications and cyber-security capital strategic infrastructure replacement in collaboration with other internal groups.
•Identify opportunities, challenge current practices and provide advice for SCADA maintenance and support strategies.
•Lead and provide guidance and technical support for system trouble shooting assignments.
•Provide on-call support for SCADA system.
•Other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
•Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Computer or Software Systems is preferred).
•Professional Engineer Designation registered to practice in Saskatchewan.
•Eight (8) years of progressive engineering experience related to SCADA systems and communications networks in the oil and gas industry.
•Demonstrated competency in software, computer, communications and cyber security that includes complex problem solving, project management, coaching and mentorship, and strong working knowledge of SCADA best practices, standards, and operating procedures.
•Ability to work on a team while building and maintaining effective relationships.
•Must have a continuing record of professional development and continuous learning.
A suitable combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered.
Additional Information•Travel, including overnight stays away from bid headquarters, is required on occasion.
•A valid Class 5 driver’s license is required.
•Provide on-call support for SCADA system.
