The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing safety programs to ensure compliance with OSHA, local, state, and federal regulations, and company safety standards. This role supports field and operational teams working on solar installation and maintenance projects, helping to create a culture of safety and mitigate risk on all project sites.
- Maintain our comprehensive safety program tailored to solar construction and maintenance activities.
- Conduct site safety audits, inspections, and risk assessment on all active solar sites.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and relevant environmental and safety regulations.
- Deliver safety training programs (e.g., fall protection, electrical safety, PPE use).
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and injuries; document findings and implement corrective actions.
- Manage the reporting of safety metrics, including leading and lagging indicators.
- Partner with project managers, site supervisors, and staff to enforce safety expectations.
- Maintain and deliver daily toolbox talk topics to foreman for delivery each morning.
- Lead incident response and emergency preparedness drills.
- Serve as the point of contact for third-party audits and regulatory inspections.
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 5 years of safety experience in construction, preferably in the solar or renewable energy sector.
- OSHA 30 certification; CSP, CHST, or similar credential preferred.
- Knowledge of solar construction methods, electrical systems, and fall protection best practices.
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local safety regulations (especially OSHA 1926 standards).
- Excellent communication, leadership, and training skills.
- Ability to travel up to 25% depending on project locations.
- Ability to work comfortably and safely on the roof.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures outdoors.
