Regional Utilities Of Walton County is proud to serve over 18,000 customers. Regional Utilities provides water and/or sewer service for a large portion of South Walton County.Responsible for developing and maintaining the organizations safety and environmental policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, EPA and OSHA rules and regulations. Plans and implements programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices as well as correct handling of equipment, materials, and chemicals. Responsible for investigating and reporting all accidents. Compiles and submits reports to workers comp carrier. Provides information, signs and other materials to warn of potential safety hazards. This position includes developing and training employees, and environmental reporting ensuring satisfaction of requirements for EPA and OSHA regulations.
Responsibilities:•Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of the workplace to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations
•Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations
•Provide training sessions for employees on safety practices, emergency procedures, first aid, and the proper use of equipment both in classroom and in practical settings
•Monitor the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure that it is available and properly utilized
•Collaborate with management to promote a culture of safety within the organization
•Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, and incident reports
•Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to workplace safety to ensure ongoing compliance and continuous improvement
•Makes inspections of the job site. Reports unsafe acts or conditions, intervenes when necessary, and reports any unsafe acts to Management
•Act as a liaison between the organization and various external agencies (examples include but are not limited to workers comp insurance, OSHA, drug screen MRO)
•Investigate safety & environmental related accidents, incidents, near misses and property damage to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences
+ Write incident reports based on the investigations and work with the team on corrective actions.
+ Maintain 300 Log & 301 forms
+ Report to Workers Comp as needed
•Conduct internal audits to identify, measure, and evaluate the effectiveness of EHS program
•Provide recommendations for improvements and additions to the safety management program including emergency preparedness, accident prevention, general safety, and risk management
•Responsible for adhering to all DEP Environmental Permit guidelines
•Work with cdl drivers daily, to ensure safety compliance is being met
Requirements:
•High school diploma or an equivalent
•Valid driver’s license and ability to meet auto insurance carrier requirements
•Have valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License or be able to successfully attain one in a reasonable amount of time
•2+ years of EHS experience and/or 5+ years of Water and Wastewater utilities experience specifically in Maintenance and/or Construction roles
•Experience developing EHS programs and improving existing programs preferred
•Experience with incident investigations, root cause analysis (RCA), and corrective actions preferred
•Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage employees, train others effectively and collaborate with leadership
•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience using EHS metrics to drive improvements and for assessing risks and developing solutions
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint),
•Excellent presentation and organizational skills
•Demonstrates ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously
•CPR/First Aid/AED Instructor (or willing to obtain)
•DOT Specimen Collector (or willing to obtain)
•OSHA Certification, desired (OSHA 30)
•Trench safety and excavation training certification, desired
•Confined space trainer course, desired
