Reporting to the Senior Safety Coordinator, the Safety Coordinator is responsible for providing support, advice and coaching to the operation on implementation of the Rio Tinto Safety Standards, incident management and associated legal and other requirements. Both within IOC and Rio Tinto the role plays an important part in ensuring a safe workplace is fostered and that the business meets both Rio Tinto and legislative needs. The role is based in Labrador City, NL. The work schedule consists of four 10-hour days per week, either Monday to Thursday or Tuesday to Friday
You will support the business by ensuring that the operation and its’ employees are working safely and in compliance with legal and other requirements through the provision of quality services and advice to the Labrador City operation. The role is required to support the operational areas, assist with incident management, and implement safety initiatives to continuously improve performance.

The Iron Ore Company of Canada (IOC) is a leading Canadian producer of iron ore concentrate and iron ore pellets that serves customers worldwide. The company operates a mine, a concentrator and a pelletizing plant in Labrador City, Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as port facilities in Sept-Îles, Quebec. It also operates a 418 kilometer railroad that links the mine to the port.
