JOB TITLE: SAFETY CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT SPECIALIST

POSITION OVERVIEW: The Safety Continuous Improvement Specialist reports directly to the Manager of Safety & Environmental and is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining work methods, safety procedures and work practices that ensure the safety and well-being of all employees. This role involves close collaboration with various departments to identify potential hazards, develop strategies to mitigate risks, and ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations.
- Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs, policies, and procedures.
- Create detailed work method statements and job safety analyses (JSAs) for various tasks and operations.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify potential safety issues.
- Develop and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks and ensure a safe working environment.
- Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees at all levels.
- Ensure all employees are educated on proper work methods, safety procedures, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations and standards.
- Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, inspections, and training sessions.
- Prepare and submit safety reports to management and regulatory bodies as required.
- Monitor and review safety programs and procedures to ensure they remain effective and up to date.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in safety practices and procedures.
- Lead investigations into safety incidents and near-misses to identify root causes and prevent recurrence.
- Develop and implement corrective actions based on investigation findings.
- Work closely with other departments to ensure safety considerations are integrated into all operations.
- Serve as a point of contact for safety-related queries and concerns from employees and management.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in field/utility work or related field.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing programs and procedures.
- Experience writing and developing policies and work methods.
- Relevant safety certifications (e.g., CSP, ASP, OSHA) required to be obtained within one year.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to develop and deliver training programs.
- Proficiency in using safety management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to perform physical inspections in various environments, including potentially hazardous locations.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required.
