The Railroad Commission of Texas has direct oversight of over almost half a million miles of Intra-State pipelines. The Pipeline Safety Department in the Oversight and Safety Division is seeking one T4 Pipeline Permitting Administrative Assistant to perform routine to moderately complex compliance, technical, and professional administrative support in the Commission’s statewide Pipeline Safety Program.
The primary function of this position involves disseminating information, maintaining filing systems, and performing internal administrative support. Assigned tasks involves following guidelines and prioritizing assignments to meet workload performance standards.
Work is performed under the general supervision of the Pipeline Safety Support Manager, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Primarily work indoors in an office setting with heating and cooling regulated in a general office environment; the noise level in each work environment ranges from low-to-moderate.

Ability to reach high and low; open, close and retrieve files from file cabinets as well as operate computer keyboard and appropriate office equipment. Must be able to lift, push, pull and/or carry up to 50 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl in cramped quarters. Must walk/stand for considerable amounts of time. Must also have visual acuity, depth perception, and the ability to discern colors.
Work Hours: Standard office hours for Commission employees are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Our agency offers alternate schedules for employees, as long as it does not adversely affect operations and service levels, and standard hours of operation are maintained. Alternate work schedules may be discussed with the hiring manager during the interview process.
