Job Description
The Railroad Commission of Texas, recognized as a worldwide leader in the regulation of oil and gas, is seeking a Customer Service Representative III to perform advanced level customer service activities, tariff filing review and processing, as well as statistical and research support. This position will work in the Market Oversight Section,Gas Services Department within the Oversight and Safety Division.
Essential Job Function
•Review and process natural gas utility and common carrier tariff filings ensuring consistency, accuracy and completion.
•Review utility filings and responses to consumer complaints, ensuring consistency with regulatory statutes and Commission rules
•Research and reconcile discrepancies and prepare written correspondence to the gas utilities.
•Perform technical, statistical and research work related to the regulation of the Texas natural gas utility industry.
•Assist with record retention requirements related to gas utility filings.
•Assist with special projects as well as administrative tasks.
•Assist with answering phones for the section and division.
•Assist with responses, internal and external, concerning complaints and inquiries.
•Prepare and scan documents for electronic storage.
•Must be able to work Monday through Friday 8:00 – 5:00
•Conduct mail reviews and route functions to the appropriate Oversight and Safety Division.
•Perform general filing duties.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
•Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent is required.
•Experience in customer service, clerical, or administrative support work.
•Ability to work Monday-Friday, 8AM - 5PM with occasional flexible hours and weekends.
•Experience and education may be substituted for one another.
Preferred Qualifications
•Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a diverse team.
•Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university is generally preferred.
•Knowledge of applicable state laws, rules, and regulations; and of accounting and bookkeeping procedures and techniques.
•Ability to evaluate financial records and statements, to prepare concise reports, and to communicate financial and technical information effectively.
•Ability to perform tasks that require periods of high levels of productivity while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
•Knowledge of office procedures, business methods and procedures.
•Must demonstrate excellent communication, writing, and organizational skills.
•Knowledge of records administration and maintenance.
•Ability to take initiative, work independently, and report findings on a consistent basis.
•Ability to work efficiently and effectively both independently and as part of a team.
•Ability to maintain working relationships with internal/external stakeholders and be open to peer review and feedback from supervisors on work performance standards.
•Ability to respond to high-pressure situations and meet changing demands and timelines.
•Ability to learn new laws, regulations, and standards to ensure compliance.
•Proficient in the use of computer systems utilizing Microsoft Office Suite and database systems.
•Ability to interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
•Ability to review work for accuracy, to accurately perform detailed numerical work, to make arithmetical computations to prepare related records and reports.

Work Hours: Standard office hours for Commission employees are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Our agency offers alternate schedules for employees, as long as it does not adversely affect operations and service levels, and standard hours of operation are maintained. Alternate work schedules may be discussed with the hiring manager during the interview process.
