The Reservoir/Simulation Engineer will be responsible for, but not limited to: modeling, simulation, forecasting, production characterizations, and field development plans for our assets. You will be working across a wide range of reservoirs and operations in numerous basins in Colombia.
- Provide reservoir engineering support for Parex’s operated fields across our portfolio.
- Facilitate active drilling and completion operations.
- Work within timelines and present to partners, to ensure budget approvals and that Parex meets its operational and production targets.
- Perform reservoir engineering analysis of pressure and production data, including data compilation and effective data management.
- Provide production engineering support to monitor, evaluate, and optimize well performance including production forecasting and analysis utilizing both analytical and reservoir simulation techniques.
- Conduct regular analysis of well and field performance to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Develop a deep understanding of our reservoirs, rock and fluid properties, drilling and completion techniques, production practices, facility requirements, testing, and production and project economics.
- Participate in reservoir engineering studies that include reservoir simulation and modeling, Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) scoping, and production characterizations.
- Provide robust forecasts for our fields and participate in planning and optimizing production estimates for corporate decisions.
- Prepare reservoir engineering input into drilling, completion, and workover proposals.
- Work in a multi-disciplinary team to meet base business objectives and collaborate to identify performance improvement opportunities.
- Minimum of Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Reservoir or Petroleum Engineering preferred).
- 10+ years of progressive technical oil and gas experience within an exploration and production company, with focus on dynamic modelling and reservoir simulation.- Previous international work experience is an asset.
- Combination of major and intermediate size company operating oil and gas experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of geology, operations, production, wellbores, pipelines and facilities.
- Experience with industry-standard reservoir simulation platforms, CMG and Schlumberger’s INTERSECT.
- Understanding of reservoir engineering basics, with good knowledge of reservoir drive mechanisms and recovery methods.
- Working knowledge of Pressure-Volume-Temperature (PVT) and phase behaviour, and Special Core Analysis/Routine Core Analysis (SCAL/RCAL) is an asset.
- Previous experience in conventional reservoirs and/or conventional heavy oil reservoirs is a plus.
- Strong aptitude for working with computers/database systems, with the ability to learn new applications quickly.
- High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
- Ability to follow specific processes and instructions, remain open to feedback, and work independently.
- Ability to be innovative and solve problems effectively, with an end goal of improving processes to increase efficiencies.
- Proven aptitude to effectively manage multiple tasks and changing priorities, often under pressure and within time constraints.
- Spanish written and verbal language skills are an asset.
This position is located in our Corporate Headquarters at 2700 Eighth Ave Place, West Tower in Calgary, Alberta T2P 1G1, Canada.
Parex has an in-office work schedule Monday to Thursday (in support of fostering team integration and cross-functional collaboration), with the option to work remotely from home on Friday.
Periodic travel to Colombia will be required, with frequency to be based on business needs per annum.
