Quality Inspector - I

Job Summary

A Quality Inspector I plays a critical part in maintaining high standards by inspecting materials, products, and special processes.

Duties/Responsibilities:

- Conduct visual, physical, and certification inspections of incoming materials, finished goods, and in-process products, according to established specifications and procedures.

- Operate various metrology equipment (calipers, gauges, micrometers, etc.) to verify dimensions, tolerances, and other quality parameters.

- Operate automated inspection equipment using established programs including vision systems and CMMs.

- Compare products against samples, engineering drawings, or digital specifications to verify conformity of the products.

- Segregate non-conforming materials or products following established procedures.

- Maintain accurate records of inspection results and report any quality issues to the Quality Control department or Supervisor.

- Analyze inspection data to identify trends and potential quality problems.

- Assist with implementing corrective actions to address identified quality issues.

- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety regulations and housekeeping standards.

- Participate in safety briefings and actively follow all company safety protocols.

- May operate basic testing equipment to assess product functionality or performance.

- Assist or complete calibrations according to departmental work instructions.

- Perform any other duties or tasks as assigned or required.

Requirements

- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to achieving a high-quality standard.

- Ability to learn and follow established procedures effectively.

- Basic understanding of quality control principles is a plus.

- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Strong work ethic and a commitment to safety.

- Familiarity with basic computer programs for data entry or record keeping.

Physical Requirements:

- Good vision is necessary for inspecting products, reading specifications, and operating measuring instruments. Must be able to pass a vision test conducted by a licensed optometrist.

- The ability to manipulate tools and equipment effectively is crucial.

- Typically spend a portion of time standing at inspection stations or walking around the production floor.

- Extended periods of time sitting at a desk to review data or complete paperwork.

- Occasionally lifting or carrying of light materials, parts or tools (typically under 15 lbs.).

- The ability to handle and move parts up to 35 lbs.

- Inspecting products on lower shelves or working with equipment on the ground might require bending or kneeling.

- Inspecting products on high shelves or operating overhead equipment might require reaching.

- Good hearing to identify noises associated with malfunctions or improper equipment operation.

First shift position: M-Th 6:00 am-3:00pm, Friday 6am-12pm; however, the start time can be flexible in order to overlap into second shift on Monday-Thursday. Schedule can be discussed at time of hire.
