Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Quality Control Technician to join our solar operations team.
The Quality Control Technician is responsible for reviewing and submitting installed project packages to finance companies for closeout. This includes verifying project documentation, photos, and design details, as well as confirming that the estimated production of sold systems aligns with the installed design for Equity Solar products.
The primary objective of this role is to uphold high-quality standards and ensure strong portfolio health supporting systems designed to perform up to standard. Additionally, the role includes reviewing solar monitoring platforms to verify that systems are accurately mapped and that critical components are functioning as expected.
Through timely daily installation submissions, this position helps secure project milestone approvals and minimize rejections. When issues arise, they must be addressed promptly with clear communication to all stakeholders.
Additionally, this role includes supporting accounts for receivable activities to ensure funds are received in a timely manner.
- Prepare and review all pictures, engineering plans, shade reports, and all other items required in order to submit installed solar projects to third-party financing partners for approval and funding.
- Submit all projects for funding to the pertaining financial company in less than 24 business hours after project/installations is completed.
- Ensure all submission documentation is complete, accurate and compliant with lender requirements.
- Strong understanding of PV systems, NEC codes, and the ability to read single-line and three-line electrical diagrams.
- Monitor the status of each submission and perform consistent follow-ups to expediate the approval process.
- Follow up projects procedures to completion and make sure we receive 100% of the funds.
- Investigate and resolve rejected submissions quickly and professionally, working with the internal team as needed.
- Track funded projects and clearly identify which project received funding for proper commission processing.
- Research and process charge backs/claw backs and make sure the proper process is performed in order to recover and receive the money back from the financial institutions to our bank account.
- Support the Finance and Commissions departments in reconciling funded projects and ensuring payments are released in a timely manner.
- Monitor, document, and help prevent founding delay: manage and resolve any pending holding funding in collaboration with internal departments.
- Maintain organized records of all submissions, approvals, funding statuses, and issues.
- Communicate proactively with stakeholders and escalate time sensitive issues appropriately.
- Process and record incoming payments accurately in the accounting system.
- Generate metrics reports as requested.
- Updates account receivable ledger.
- Answers account receivable phone inquiries.
- Attend video conferences or in-person meetings with our Financial Institutions and/or Account Managers.
- Attend video conferences or in-person meetings with our internal Engineering Team when necessary.
- Maintain project records.
- When needed, contact the installations team to obtain pictures or any other data required to complete a project submission to the financial institutions.
- Take good care of the company's equipment. The company will provide a work computer and work iPhone.
- Any other additional responsibilities that the employer may request to maintain the regular operations of the company.
- Proven experience in solar, renewable energy, finance submissions, or project coordination is preferred.
- Proficiency in financial software, CRM systems, platforms and spreadsheets is essential for this position.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail is essential.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Self-motivated, problem-solver, and process-driven mindset.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Familiarity with solar financing platforms.
- Understanding of residential solar workflows and project lifecycle.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
