Knowledge of commercial casting requirements and machine shop practice preferred
Day shift Mon - Thur 4am to 2:30pm, occasional Fri as needed
- Examine, check and gauge a wide variety of castings for flaws and defects
- Refer to job cards, drawings and part files for specifications and requirements
- Visually examines production castings for many varied defects and must be trained to have the ability to recognize defects working alone
- Checks ductile iron with the ring test practice
- Segregate castings by part number and prepares parts for shipping
- May perform brinnell test or gauge castings for go or no-go tolerances
- Maintains record on brinell test
- Determines cause of scrap and records
- Inspect and check rough castings for finish, quality and imperfect workmanship
- Mark castings to indicate any additional chipping or grinding required
- Perform routine visual inspection and check of castings following specific instructions and under supervision
- May be assigned to inspect larger lots of castings following definite instructions as to rejection and approval standards
- Performs housekeeping to maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Perform any and all other job related tasks as assigned
Skills or Experience Required: High school diploma or GED. Understand, read and write English, count, add, subtract and complete paperwork accurately. Familiar with shipping scales & weights.
- Lift 70 lbs. on an occasional basis
