The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for performing inspections on completed jobs to ensure that products meet or exceed customer expectations. The essential functions include, but are not limited to:
- Create a safety-first culture in the shop through open communication
- Performs complete layout inspection by measuring dimensions such as length, height, and distance between reference points using several different types of measuring equipment.
- Locates reference point(s) on parts and measures dimensions such as angles, arcs, and radii, using combinations of aids.
- Performs verification on incoming, in-process, and outgoing products
- Visually compares work pieces against one another to assess/detect manufacturing variations in processes
- Reports quality problems or findings to Quality Control Manager and follows up to ensure that corrective action has/will take place
- Maintains record of inspections and prepares list of defects
- Interacts with other departments to ensure compliance with specifications and to facilitate the acceptance of parts
- The ability to interpret blueprints
- Basic Math & Geometry/Trigonometry
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Flexibility based on plant production schedules
- Computer literacy in Word & Excel
- Good organizational skills
- Knowledge of NDE testing and processes
- Knowledge of ASME Section VIII and TEMA fabrication codes
- Heat Exchanger and Vessel background is preferred
Employees will be required to sit, stand, walk, kneel and crouch. Employees will also use their hands and arms and view objects closely. Employees may be required to lift and/or move anywhere from 10 to 25 pounds and occasionally will help lift 50 pounds. Employees may work in high noise levels and near exposed fumes or particles.
