The Verschuren Centre Inc has an open access service model to grow client technologies in clean technology and biomanufacturing, recently expanding its lab and pilot facilities into a large demonstration plant providing up to 10,000 L fermentation. Our mission is to enable companies to reach full commercialization in a cost effective, supportive ecosystem. We are seeking an experienced Quality Control Associate to join our team.
The Quality Control Associate is responsible for ensuring the performance of quality testing, internal audits, and on-site presence throughout the organization. This position is also responsible for the development and management of QA/QC, holds activities to control quality and safety standards. Responsible for ISO 9001 compliance, SOP's, and HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) meetings. Ensure all Product, Safety and Quality policies and procedures are followed.
· Plan, develop, execute, review, and maintain safety and quality programs to ensure that they meet current and future customer expectations, company standards, and regulatory requirements.
· Develop & implement a Quality Management System (QMS) with external consultants.
· Assure company operations meet all requirements related to ISO 9001 and other Certifications. Document, implement and maintain all records related to audit. Take appropriate action when necessary to ensure compliance.
· Track, analyze, and communicate product safety and quality related performance indicators and recommend solutions for continued improvement.
· Oversee monitoring, verification, and validation of all activities to ensure that in-coming and out-going products quality standards; provide leadership to drive improvements in key quality attributes. Manage the microbiological finished product testing.
· Provide training of quality assurance and safety processes to employees and management team and provide direct reports with leadership and coaching to achieve work objectives and improve performance.
· Plan, develop and execute budgets for departmental labor, QA supplies and equipment.
· Coordinate procurement of reagents, consumables, and quality control materials, ensuring all purchased items meet required quality specifications, regulatory standards, and laboratory testing needs.
· Review supplier documentation (e.g., Certificates of Analysis, safety data sheets, and specifications) to ensure compliance with quality and regulatory requirements.
· Routinely prepares facilities for external visits & audits/inspections.
· Function as liaisons between internal operations, sales, customers, and consumers related to any safety, quality, regulatory and security inquires.
You have an educational background in a relevant field, coupled with experience in the industry. You are a highly detailed, focused strategic thinker with excellent analytical and relationship-building skills. You enjoy solving problems in collaboration with a small team and have strong communication skills required to do so.
· Bachelor’s degree in food safety, Microbiology, Food Science, or other science related field.
· 5 - 7 years management capacity within the food industry and knowledge of regulatory requirements.
· Must have experience with HACCP & ISO 9001 and have experience facilitating product safety/quality training.
· Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
· The ability to multi-task routine duties and projects is necessary.
