The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for executing requests for goods and materials to support various operational groups. This role ensures timely procurement, accurate invoice processing, and effective vendor communication.
- Receive and review requisitions; clarify requirements as needed.
- Place orders with approved vendors; source supply for regular and emergency purchases.
- Issue purchase and change orders using the company’s ERP system (Vista).
- Maintain consistent and accurate purchasing and pricing records.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Purchase materials at the lowest total cost while meeting quantity, quality, and lead-time requirements.
- Expedite procurement through delivery and ensure accurate invoice.
- Review and resolve invoice discrepancies with Accounts Payable.
- Support estimating teams with material pricing requests.
- Lead and/or support project purchasing requirements from award to closing.
- Assist in developing and implementing master pricing agreements.
- Contribute to identifying cost savings and process improvements.
- Relevant post-secondary education (Diploma, Degree, or professional designation). – preferred not required.
- Experience Range: Intermediate: 3–5 years’ purchasing experience, including 1–3 years in industrial construction.
- Professional Designations: SCMP or CCLP designation preferred, not required.
- Technical skills in issuing RFQ and addenda, conducting bid analysis, expediting to close.
- Supplier negotiations, cost control, and project close-outs.
- Strong analytical skills – ability to obtain, analyze, and interpret supply chain data.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), Microsoft Teams, and ERP systems (Vista preferred).
- Excellent problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities.
