F.C. Ziegler Co. is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Purchasing Lead to oversee our procurement operations. This role plays a critical part in ensuring our supply chain runs smoothly, efficiently, and cost-effectively while supporting our mission to deliver exceptional quality and service.
As the Purchasing Lead, you will manage the end-to-end procurement process—from supplier selection and negotiation to inventory control and pricing management. You will lead a team of buyers, foster strong vendor relationships, and collaborate across departments to meet operational needs and budget goals.
- Procurement Management:
- Oversee the purchasing process, from sourcing suppliers to coordinating deliveries.
- Develop procurement strategies that ensure timely acquisition of goods and services.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, legal standards, and industry regulations.
- Supplier Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong, reliable supplier partnerships.
- Negotiate favorable pricing, terms, and contracts.
- Resolve supplier issues promptly to avoid operational disruptions.
- Cost & Inventory Control:
- Analyze purchasing spend to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Monitor stock levels, forecast demand, and prevent shortages, overstocking, and shrinkage.
- Maintain pricing accuracy and monitor gross profit margins.
- Leadership & Team Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop the purchasing team.
- Provide training on procurement best practices and performance improvement.
- Conduct regular performance assessments and feedback sessions.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner with Retail, Accounting, Warehouse, and other departments to align procurement with operational needs.
- Share reports and insights with leadership to support decision-making.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3–5 years of purchasing/procurement/supply chain experience, including 2+ years in a leadership role.- Strong negotiation, supplier management, and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in ERP systems, procurement software, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
- Proven ability to manage budgets, meet deadlines, and lead teams effectively.
