We have an immediate opening for a Proposal Consultant.
The Proposal Consultant oversees the development of proposals and related documents that describe the organization’s products and services in response to prospective client requests.
This role supports proposal processes and timelines to ensure efficient, high‑quality, and timely submissions. It also leads initiatives to enhance proposal quality and collaborates with Operations to develop business communications related to operational solutions and GIS services, with a focus on systems integration.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Manages client and prospect Supply Chain procurement portals, including user credentials and account profiles.
- Distributes RFx requests and documents to appropriate stakeholders for decision‑making.
- Leads the proposal process by coordinating with the opportunity owner / account manager to schedule meetings, set timelines, and ensure all requirements are met.
- Communicates effectively with internal and external partners to support proposal submission processes and timelines.
- Manages proposal submissions, including review and delivery of proposal packages.
- Validates and standardizes content, including solution descriptions, scope documents, schedules, and pricing.
- Develops a strong understanding of UDC’s solutions to translate complex information into clear, polished, and visually supported content.
- Writes clear, concise documentation for non‑technical audiences and avoids overly verbose responses.
- Contributes to and maintain proposal content repository. This includes working with SMEs to create new content and revising existing content to create a boilerplate repository.
- Manages workload for multiple concurrent proposal deadlines.
- Collaborates with Marketing by sharing and leveraging relevant content.
- Supports a consistent brand image and voice by following established content and graphic guidelines.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Understands the Systems Integration domain, preferably within Gas or Electric utilities.
- Demonstrates strong technical aptitude and the ability to maintain and organize electronic files.
- Collaborates effectively across departments and works well as part of a team.
- Accurately interprets RFPs, including customer requirements, response structures, and UDC’s ability to respond.
- Understands UDC’s solutions and how they meet customer needs.
- Demonstrates strong listening skills, asking clarifying questions and summarizing complex technical content effectively.
- Possesses clear, effective writing skills aligned with business development and marketing needs.
- Identifies effective methods for data compilation and centralized content storage within proposal management platform.
- Maintains strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Excel, SharePoint and Adobe Acrobat.
- Exhibits strong research and interviewing abilities.
- Delivers high‑quality writing and editing with a keen eye for detail.
5 years of proposals and/or technical writing experience
- Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- 2+ years SharePoint experience- Experience with a proposal management platform is preferred, but not required
$80,000-$90,000/annually.
The compensation offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
