Product Specifier Drafter (Engineering)

We are looking for a Product Specifier (Engineering) to work within our Vertically Sliding Door (VSD) Engineering group. This is a great opportunity to join the world leader in the freight elevator door industry.

Advanced Proficiency with Inventor/SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and parametric modelling is required.

In this role you will work within the VSD Engineering team to support global freight elevator projects from initial design proposal through to full production. Your daily role will primarily involve design-drawing production to support manufacturing of custom orders. You will also be responsible to:

- Review customer supplied mechanical and architectural drawings, as well as project Specifications.

- Interpret customer review documents.

- Collaborate with team members on projects.

- Produce manufacturing drawings and documentation, as well as installation documentation as required.

- Manufacturing BOM and Routing maintenance/creation (VISUAL).

- Liaise with Sales team members to accommodate customer requirements and assist in finding product solutions.

- Provide technical support to both internal customers (Manufacturing team) and external customers.

- Attend customer job site visits to collect critical project information, or to provide product support and/or installation training.

- Support and perform other duties as required to aid the Engineering team during personnel absences or peak demand periods.

Requirements:

- Post-Secondary education in Mechanical Engineering preferred and/or 2+ years of equivalent experience in industrial Product Design for manufacturing in a fast- paced environment.

- Solid understanding of mechanical principles, steel/sheet metal processing, and electrical principals and their incorporation into the design process.

- Previous design experience developing custom sheet metal products within a custom manufacturing environment.

- Ability to read technical drawings and other construction/architectural documents.

- Able to work autonomously while keeping the team informed and seeing projects through to the end.

- Experience with MS Office Suite.

- Proficient with Inventor/SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and parametric modelling
