About This Job

MISO is seeking a Product Owner II to help shape the future of how we manage the electrical grid. This role will support the evolution of a suite of applications used by operators to balance energy and ensure grid reliability. As we transition from a project-based to a product operating model, we’re looking for someone who’s energized by the opportunity to build structure, advocate for user value, and help define what great product ownership looks like in a complex, evolving environment.

The Product Owner is responsible for owning the vision and roadmap for their product, ensuring alignment with customer needs, business goals, and industry trends. This role collaborates closely with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to prioritize the product backlog, guide solution design, and leverages agile delivery practices to maximize value delivery to their end users. By leveraging user feedback, product metrics, and business insights, they deliver high-quality, user-centered solutions that drive strategic outcomes and continuous improvement.

You’ll collaborate with stakeholders to align customer needs, business outcomes, and industry trends—and use user feedback, product metrics, and research insights to guide product direction. This is a hands-on role that requires curiosity, resilience, and a passion for continuous improvement.

What you’ll do as MISO’s Product Owner II:

- Own and drive the product vision and roadmap for a moderate to large product, partnering with stakeholders and executives to align customer needs, business outcomes, and long‑term strategy.

- Use product metrics to independently identify complex insights, define new measures as needed, and translate findings into informed product direction and prioritization.

- Lead cross‑functional alignment by serving as the product evangelist, guiding discovery efforts, and partnering with UX, architecture, data, and operations to ensure solutions deliver user and business value.

- Apply Agile and product‑mindset principles across one or more teams by managing the backlog, facilitating sprint ceremonies, driving iterative delivery, and fostering a user‑centered, adaptable team culture.

- Connect product decisions to user outcomes and business objectives by developing business cases, applying financial acumen, and aligning initiatives with organizational goals and emerging industry trends.

- Lead release planning, product launches, demos, and stakeholder updates, ensuring high-quality execution, clear communication, and a strong customer experience throughout the product lifecycle.

Experience/Qualifications we are looking for as our Product Owner II:

- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance Economics, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field, (or 4 years relevant work experience equivalency); 3-6 years of experience in product management, product ownership, business analysis, systems engineering or related experience.

- Proven experience managing product features or product areas across the full lifecycle, with exposure to customer feedback loops, product analytics, and cross‑functional collaboration.

- Strong critical‑thinking and problem‑solving abilities, including analyzing complex business scenarios, synthesizing data, and drawing valid, actionable conclusions.

- Demonstrated experience working within Azure Cloud environments, with a solid understanding of cloud concepts and a strong alignment to a Cloud‑First strategy.

- Practical experience leveraging AI tools or capabilities to enhance workflows, improve decision‑making, or support business outcomes.

- Proven ability to incorporate AI utilization into day‑to‑day responsibilities, such as automating tasks, analyzing data, or improving user experiences.

- Holds a recognized Product Owner certification (e.g., CSPO, PSPO, SAFe PO/PM) or equivalent experience in product ownership practices.

- Proficiency with product/backlog management tools such as Jira, GitHub, or ServiceNow.

Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience and knowledge.
