Process Plant Operator

Detailed Job Description

Reporting to the Plant Operation Manager, this position will be based at the CST Coal Mine, Grande Cache, AB and will be working on a one week on and one weeks off (alternating night shift and day shift) rotational schedule on a 12 hours per shift day.

- Complete regular and assigned plant operation duties in designated areas within the Coal Processing Plant.

- Operate various equipment including but not limited to skid steer, forklift and light vehicle;

- Loading of coal into rail cars.

- Complete operational check rounds in designated sections of the plant and report findings to supervisor;

- Performing process plant clean-up and maintaining the cleanliness of the plant and equipment to a high standard;

- Monitoring and controlling the designated sections of the plant within specified operating perimeters;

- Adhering to Standard Operating Procedures for Plant Operation;

- Working and promoting safety within the Plant Operations;

- Reporting on maintenance issues to your supervisor;

- Ensuring basic operational maintenance tasks and repairs are completed within allotted time frames

- Completing check round sheets and reporting prior to the end of each shift;

- Clearly communicating all production and safety related issue to team members and cross shift;

- Completing other related work as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

- Minimum 2 year operator experience in a Mineral Processing, coal processing experience would be preferable.

- Knowledge of conveyors, pumps, crushers, Heavy Media Separation, Floatation, water clarification, tailings ponds.

- Ability to operate various pieces of equipment

- Solid proficiency in reading and understanding manuals and written instructions;

- Ability to learn and understand technical procedures and information quickly;

- Ability to work in high stress situations and resolve issues;

- Ability to take initiative and work independently and as part of a team;

- Knowledge of computer programs including common office software;

- A strong safety mindset.

Work Environment

The incumbent works at the CST Mine Site facility on a 12 hour, 7 day on/7 day off, day shift schedule. (Night shifts are required in some Departments). Overtime and call-outs may be required due to the nature of the work. He/she can expect to work in both an indoor setting and outdoors in inclement weather and may be exposed to dangerous physical hazards [heavy lifting] found around an industrial site including possible exposure to fire, smoke, fumes, odors, chemicals from oxy-acetylene cutting and welding and exposure to coal dust. The incumbent may be exposed to loud and continuous noise levels that require ear protection. As a condition of employment, the incumbent is required to comply with pre-employment drug and alcohol testing as per the Drug and Alcohol Policy. As required, personal protective equipment will include, but is not limited to, the use of an approved hard hat, safety glasses, steel toe boots, hearing protection, CSA approved respiratory protection, protective clothing and gloves.

- No camp available, you are be required to hold residence, on some level, in the hamlet of Grande Cache for the duration of your work rotation.

- 7 and 7, 12 hour day /night rotation.

- $35.22 per hour.

- $1.10 per hour night shift premium.

- $600.00 per year for boot/clothing allowance. ($22.23 bi weekly taxable, benefit)

- $1,500.00 per year tool allowance ($55.56 bi-weekly, taxable benefit)

- $600.00 per month Trades Allowance ($300.00 bi weekly, taxable benefit)

- $500.00 per month Living Allowance ($250.00 bi weekly, taxable benefit)

- $355.56 bi weekly attendance bonus
