The Operator Driver opportunity starts as a one-year term training opportunity with the potential to transfer to full-time employment
as a Manitoba Hydro Operator Driver. Those in the Operator Driver Program will be classified as a Labourer for first six months and
then progress to an Operator Driver I when training requirements are complete. Full training progression consists of on-the-job
training with two levels of competency-based schools that will lead to attaining Operator Driver II certification. During your paid
training, you will be exposed to work and equipment training opportunities at various locations throughout the province.
Trainees must demonstrate a strong commitment to maintaining a safe working environment and are expected to follow all
safety protocols and Safe Work Procedures.- You will be trained to operate equipment such as: Bucket Trucks, Digger Trucks, Knuckle Boom Cranes, Loaders, Forklifts,
Stake Deck and Dump Trucks, Skid Steers, ATVs and UTVs, Tensioner/Pullers, and Mini Carrier and attachments.
- Safely operate/maintain power tools, hand tools and equipment.
- Safely operate and maintain assigned vehicles in accordance with Highway Traffic Act Regulations and Manitoba Hydro
- Perform minor repairs and lubrication on assigned units.
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to work with basic hand tools and equipment.
- Possess a valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver's Licence (intermediate or full) and be eligible for upgrade.
- Willing to work in all types of weather.
- Willingness to travel and be away from home for extended periods of time.
- Willing to work in trenches, excavations, and confined spaces.
- Capable of learning and attaining construction equipment certifications.
- Maintain a level of physical fitness and mental alertness appropriate for the duties you are performing.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Physical coordination and manual dexterity.
- Ability to lift heavy objects from a variety of physical positions.
- Be able to work as a member of a team and adapt to changing tasks and locations.
- Have good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Have basic computer skills.

- The salary range for the Labourer entry classification is $20.91-$28.03 Hourly, $40,069.38-$53,707.94 Annually.
- The salary range for the Operator Driver I classification is $23.27-$33.36 Hourly, $44,594.42-$63,925.94 Annually.
- The salary range for the Operator Driver II classification is $27.53-$37.04 Hourly, $52,744.38-$70,968.04 Annually.
